How the RIA business made a dent at the 2014 Finovate conference in San Jose

We couldn’t have a better first-time raconteur at Finovate, the technology innovation conference for financial advisory firms and banks, than the RIA business’ own Zohar Swaine. He traveled to San Jose, Calif. from New York last week on his own Mink Hollow dime with the eye of a technologist, wealth management aficionado and equipped with the radar to recognize RIA business luminaries.

Ten to Watch: Zohar Swaine

Like most people, financial advisors love technology that is easy to adopt and makes them more productive. That’s why the wealth management industry is keeping a close eye on tech guru Zohar Swaine, who, up until very recently, was building up the technology start-up inStream Solutions.

Zohar is back, joins inStream

Someone I have a lot of respect for in the industry and that I have missed the last few months has returned. Zohar Swaine, formerly managing director of product and strategy at TD Ameritrade Institutional, has joined inStream Solutions LLC as its president. He gave me a call the other day to let me know he had landed there. In his role at TD Mr. Swaine had been exposed to literally hundreds of technology firms, both those homegrown from within the advisory industry itself as well as a lot of talented firms outside it.

Tech Guru Turns to RIAs

Keep this name in mind: Zohar Swaine. The ex-TD Ameritrade executive is moving to a new venture, notes wealthmanagement.com. Most recently, he was president at start-up inStream Solutions, which helps advisory practices build more tightly integrated and open computer systems. But now the so-called tech guru is apparently stretching his wings through a consulting firm, Mink Hollow Advisors.
